We are looking for a highly-experienced freelance computer repair technician that will be comfortable making house calls to customers in homes and small businesses in the northern New Jersey area (specifically: Bergen county, Passaic county, Essex county, and some areas of Morris county).
Freelance Computer Repair Technician Needed for the north New Jersey Area:
This is a great opportunity for someone with a flexible schedule that is looking for supplemental income. We are currently averaging 2-3 jobs per week in this area. We expect this number to grow as we continue to market our services in New Jersey.
Compensation:
This is a 1099 independent contractor position. Our hourly compensation ranges from $50-$100 per hour for on-site work, and from $35 – $50 per hour for remotely provided services. Technicians are paid per hour for all time spent on-site, as well as any time spent shopping for customer parts or products. There is a one hour minimum for all services, but calls often last 2-3 hours.
Applicants should have a minimum of 5 years experience working with:
Mac & PC Hardware Repairs • Building/Troubleshooting Custom Gaming PCs • Windows OS (7-11) • Mac OS X • iPhone • Android • iPad • Computer Diagnostics • Virus Removal • Tune-Ups • Windows Error Repair • Software Troubleshooting • Printer Setup & Troubleshooting • Mesh Wi-Fi Setup & Troubleshooting • Hard Drive & RAM Upgrades • Screen Replacements • Power Jack Repairs • Laptop Keyboard Replacements.
Additional requirements include having:
- Your own PC repair tools (screwdrivers, pry tools, soldering iron, backup USB drives, USB to SATA dock, etc.)
- A valid driver’s license & reliable transportation
- A schedule that permits answering the phone from 10 AM to 7 PM daily to schedule jobs.
- An ability to easily communicate technical concepts to non-techie customers
- A professional, friendly, patient & charismatic personality.
Sales, Customer Service & Training experience, or A+ certification would also be a huge plus.
PRIMARY JOB DUTY: Make the Customer Very Happy
To do this, you may need to:
- Troubleshoot or clean install (Windows/MAC/Android/iOS)
- Install or troubleshoot (3rd Party Software, Hardware, Networking Devices & Peripherals),
- Manage data (Backup, Migrate, Wipe)
- Repair physically damaged desktops & laptops
- Recommend, configure, or replace (Computers, Hardware, or Home Electronics)
- Train customers (to understand how to use their Hardware, Software, OS, or Peripherals).
FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE INCLUDING WEEKENDS IS A MUST!
When our customers call, they expect a technician will be dispatched ASAP. Because of this time-sensitive nature, when we call a technician for a job, we expect them to have availability to schedule a service call within 24-48 hours.
