Don’t Trust Your Computer To Big Name Repair Shops
Without Reading This First…
Hi, my name is Chris, and I’m the owner of Geeks On Command!. Welcome, and thank you for considering our services.
My team and I have worked with some of the biggest names in computer repair, including:
-

-
Geeks On Site
-

-
HelloTech
-
Microsoft Store
-
Apple Store
-
MicroCenter
-
RescueCom
When we started Geeks On Command!, we wanted to keep the best parts of these companies, while changing the parts that often caused bad customer experiences. For Example:
What You Won’t Find At Geeks On Command…
Are bad customer experiences like these:
Assembly Line Repairs
Everyone uses their computer differently, and for different things. Big name computer repair shops like Geek Squad train their technicians to set up every PC the same way, keeping mostly default settings.
While in their employ, I often knew with certainty that I could save a customer SO much time or frustration by changing a setting here, or adding a plugin there, but we weren’t allowed to make (or even recommend) these changes.
Our technicians are trained and encouraged to make personalized suggestions designed to increase your productivity, or remove common aggravations.
I personally feel great when I can save my customers time, or make their day to day less frustrating. It’s one of the biggest reasons I get so much satisfaction from what I do.
Unqualified Technicians
Most retail computer repair shops don’t pay very well, which is one of the reasons I started this company. I loved what I was doing, but couldn’t survive on the paychecks.
This income deficiency makes it difficult for them to hire/keep qualified technicians, so instead they hire “tech-savvy” college kids with absolutely no computer repair experience. As lead bench technician, I was frequently the one who trained these new hires.
Some got really good, and quickly moved on to better paying IT jobs. Others never really took to it, and many a rookie mistake happened with customer’s computers. This usually resulted in “boomerangs” (computers that were “repaired” being brought back with the same problem).
Other times, the results were really horrible (accidently-deleted pictures, corrupted Excel sheets, records lost from QuickBooks, physical damage to laptops, etc.). I felt so bad when that happened… what a truly miserable, and avoidable experience for those poor customers.
We pay competitively to keep a steady team of fully qualified, experienced, professional computer technicians that get the job done right the first time.
Overpriced Services
Retail repair shops tend to have high prices for repairs. Say you have a laptop, and your hard drive needs to be replaced.
This would be a very typical bill:
Diagnostics: $49
New Hard Drive: $99.99
Hard Drive Installation: $49
OS Installation w/updates: $129
Data Migration: $99
Software Setup: $49
Total: $474.99
For only about $50 more, I could buy a brand-new laptop!
We don’t have a retail location. We come to you – either through computer repair house calls, or remote support. This eliminates many costly expenses which our computer store competitors must account for in their pricing (like rent, utilities, cleaning services, maintenance, city permits, décor, etc.).
This allows us to offer much more affordable computer repair prices. For example, here is the bill we recently sent our customer for the same services:
New Hard Drive: $55.99
2 Hours Labor: $250
Technician Notes: Ran diagnostics, installed drive, installed/updated Windows 10, migrated data. Customer had questions about Windows 10 so I gave a tutorial. Customer is happy with service.
Total: $305.99
Compared to the average $424.99, we’re nearly 30% less expensive. In addition to saving about $120, the repair was done in their own house, and in two hours. Had they brought their computer to a local computer repair shop, it would likely have been a 3-5 day check-in.
3-5 Day Wait
Many shops require customers to check in their computers for repair.
I get it. It’s an easy way to increase profit (by paying one technician to fix multiple computers at once). That said, I certainly wouldn’t want to be without my computer for “3-5 business days”.
I’d be lost without it.
We don’t do check-ins. We fix your computer in your own home or office, and we’ll stay as long as it takes to get the work done.
